Her eyes roam over the gathered crowd and she can feel the anticipation in the air for today is Auction Day at Heaven 'N' Hell. It is not long before the owner arrives, ready to auction his ladies to the highest bidders.
Her heart goes out to the first lady to step up onto the auction podium. It is always difficult being in prime position on such an occasion. The auctioneer opens bidding and the process is underway! It isn't long before the first lady is "sold" and the next one quickly moves into place.
The crowd today is boisterous; the buyers most generous; it encourages her. She realises with a start that she is to be auctioned after the lady currently on the podium. Butterflies commence flitting around in her stomach and she bites her lower lip.
With a shout, the auctioner yells "SOLD" and as she dances across the stage, hopes nobody notices how nervous she is. If she held her hands still, you would see them quivering and her knees tremble with nervous anticipation as she steps up onto the podium.
"Do we have an opening bid for this lovely lady?" is the catchcall of the auctioneer. No sooner are the words out of his mouth a bid comes in, and she breathes a sigh of relief that there is at least one person out there who would like to spend time with her for 2 hours. Another two bids are made in quick succession and she almost gasps, her nervous energy transforming to excitement.
It is a mere moment before the bids continue to come in, each a fraction higher than the last. The bidding war is on! The pace becomes fast and furious and one bidder puts in a bid for a sum that makes the crowd go silent for a moment, stunned. She is also amazed at the bid and it causes the competing bidder several minutes of anguish before they sadly, reluctantly, withdraw and the auctioneer calls out the word "SOLD".
Relief floods her body that the difficult part is over, pleased with the person who desires her company for two hours. She makes her way over to them, sits down and whispers her gratitude in their ear. Those seated nearby can just make out the words "let the fun begin".
